NSW Legislation Resource Centre

From 19 May 2025, new legislation in New South Wales requires landlords and agents to offer tenants a fee-free and accessible way to pay rent. This includes payment methods such as bank transfers and Centrepay, ensuring tenants are not forced to incur additional charges just to meet their rental obligations.

At Rental Rewards, we’re here to make compliance easy. Our platform is already equipped with a PayTo option that qualifies as a fee-free method under the new rules — and better still, it offers faster settlements, automatic reconciliation, and 1 Qantas Point per transaction for agents who choose to absorb the small fee.

This page contains everything you need to prepare:

  • Ready-to-use communication templates for tenants

  • Legal reference points to understand your obligations

  • Step-by-step guides on enabling PayTo for your rental portfolio
